Harbour Lane Night Market had great food, good music and a loyal crowd on Saturdays. Thursdays were a different story: half the stallholders were thinking of pulling out.
We spent two Thursday nights on site talking to stallholders and the people who did turn up. The pattern was clear. Locals didn’t know the market ran on Thursdays at all, and the ones who did saw it as a smaller version of Saturday.
So we gave Thursday its own identity. “Thursdays, Sorted” became a weeknight dinner promise: one stop, twenty kitchens, home by nine. We shot a library of fast, hungry-looking photography, made a run of short videos with the stallholders themselves and lined up local food writers for a soft-launch night.
Twelve weeks in, Thursday foot traffic had more than doubled and every stall had renewed for the season.
